The Dance Step Program now serves more than 300 studios and 3000 students worldwide.

What is Dance Step?

Dance Step is a dance student-teacher education program which empowers students to serve as role models, grow as leaders and care for others in their dance studio community.

The student-teacher and leadership program provides learning opportunities for Dance and Acro students from the age of 10 years. It is designed to teach leadership and valuable soft skills (referred to as employability skills like communication, teamwork, problem-solving and emotional judgment), the Dance Step program has been described as The Girl Guides of dance studios.

Whether students are considering a career in dance teaching or otherwise, the DanceStep program is a great preparation for many aspects of life.

The Founder of Dance Step

Jane Grech is the founder and author of the Dance Step Program and is passionate about the many positive opportunities and experiences dance studios can provide for students. Her formal qualifications in both Dance Education and Leadership, combined with decades of experience as a dance teacher and a dance studio owner have led to the creation of this unique program.  Jane believes the dance studio is the ideal environment to empower students and grow leaders, which is the very core of the DanceStep program.

So how does it work?

The minimum age for enrolment is 10 years. There are currently 4 levels (or Steps) and all students commence at Step One, regardless of their age, as each Step is a pre requisite for the next.  Most leadership work is focused on development in adults, but students from ten years of age absolutely THRIVE on learning and taking responsibility.

Students complete theory lessons through their online course and are required to assist in a practical lesson once per week, a total of 5 hours per term with DCM, to consolidate the theory learning.  Once students complete the theory and practical components, they can be enrolled in Steps Two – Four.
